This mansion was intended as a home for middle-class families who came to Soultz-les-Bains to take the waters.
The fathers of the Congrégation du Saint-Esprit bought the house in 1949 and set up a retirement home. This private estate can only be viewed from the outside.
Since 1949, the Fathers of the Congrégation du Saint-Esprit have occupied a house built around 1780 by entrepreneur Rondouin, who worked the quarries and vineyards. Following the death of Mademoiselle Grouvel, the previous owner, who died without issue in 1948, the Congrégation bought the house and turned it into Maison Saint-Léon. It is a place of retreat for elderly priests who have been sent on mission to the four corners of the world. They enjoy a peaceful setting between the Canal de la Bruche and the vineyards directly behind their estate.
