4 km from Honfleur, the Bois du Breuil is one of the few coastal forests open to the public. This 120-hectare forest, managed by the Département du Calvados, is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral. Rhododendrons, an avenue of beech trees and astonishingly shaped trees welcome walkers. A 5 km loop offers beautiful views over the Bay of Seine. Access to the parking lot is via the RD 62 (Equemauville-Pennedepie).
A diagnosis of the beech alley in the Bois du Breuil has been undertaken. Of the 168 trees lining this avenue, five are in danger of falling over and need to be felled. To ensure the safety of walkers, this operation will be carried out in autumn 2025. In addition, safety pruning will also be carried out this autumn on 70 trees, as has already been done in the past. This will involve cutting back the largest dying branches that are in danger of falling onto the driveway.
Beyond the safety aspects, these maintenance operations aim to keep this beech alleyway in good health.
As you stroll through the woods next autumn during the construction phase, we ask you to be vigilant in respecting the signs prohibiting access to the construction site.
