Circuit touristique - Balade culturelle Ambazacoise

Description

Discover the history of 14 heritage sites on a tour accessible to all (2.2 km/1h). Start on the right-hand side of the town hall, built between 1898 and 1900. Other sites: Dr. Ballet?s cast-iron fountain inaugurated in 1911, Saint-Antoine church (reliquary shrine, dalmatic), Saint-Antoine medieval fountain, gendarmerie (1791), girls? school (1892) built on land donated by Th. Haviland, fairground, boys? school (1879), main street, post office (1870), porcelain factory (1931), formerly the ?Coqui? mill, school (1856-1858), Mavest garment factory relocated from Bas-Rhin in 1940 and active until 1982, railway station built by a large number of workers, some of whom were Chinese. The tour is organized by the town council, the Lou Gerbassou association and Les Collectionneurs du Pays d?Ambazac.
