Description

In 2026, a new visitor route will be unveiled, featuring a complete redesign of the exhibition space that preserves and showcases the region's archaeological heritage. And the exceptional temporary exhibition "Bargoin en Combrailles" will continue to be on display!
Discover the new permanent exhibition, featuring numerous objects spanning 5,000 years of history, from flint daggers unearthed at the Neolithic dolmen of Saint-Étienne-des-Champs to Romanesque capitals from the medieval village of Herment. A significant Gallo-Roman collection comes from the excavations of the ancient settlement of Beauclair, including inscriptions unique in France, dedicated to Toutatis, the Gaulish god. This experience is complemented by a circuit of five major sites to explore on foot!
Also in 2026, the exceptional temporary exhibition "Bargoin en Combrailles" will be extended, bringing together archaeological objects from the collections of the Bargoin Museum in Clermont-Ferrand, a long-standing partner of the Voingt Museum. All these objects originate from the Combrailles region, and most are being exhibited for the first time.
