Every spring, for centuries, Wallonia has been illuminated by the Grands Feux. This is an ancient tradition where locals drive away winter and welcome a prosperous spring, similar to bonfires lit in the UK for Guy Fawkes Night or midsummer celebrations in Northern Europe. In Falisolle, the community has been gathering every year since 1979 to collect their Christmas trees as well as other unused wooden objects and waste to bring their Grand Feu to life. This bonfire reaches about 6 meters in height and 8 meters in diameter!Did you know? The Grand Feu of Falisolle was once the largest bonfire in Europe! It amazed both locals and visitors with its 15-meter height and 20-meter diameter. However, since 2024, its size has had to be limited due to safety regulations.Nevertheless, the local atmosphere remains unmatched! You will discover several folkloric groups there, including the famous Tètâr di Fârdjole!
