Description
L’abbé Vilaine de Saint-Cyprien de Poitiers (?) fait don du prieuré Saint-Genest ou des Habites à des bénédictins qui s’appliqueront à déboiser la région. Il est rebâti par son chapelain Pierre Berlant, chanoine de la cathédrale de Poitiers, qui sera inhumé dans sa chapelle en 1668. Traditionnellement, tous les 28 août, une procession religieuse se déroulait du bourg de Saint-Maxire jusqu’aux Habites
