Description
Au IX° ou X° siècle, les moines bénédictins de la congrégation des Exempts venus de l'abbaye de Saint-Jean-d'Angély fondent l'abbaye Saint-Maurice à Blasimon, selon le cartulaire de La Réole. La première mention d’une abbaye à Blasimon remonte à l’an 980. L'abbatiale est consacrée à Saint Maurice et l'autel, dédié à saint Nicolas, délimitait l'espace tenant lieu de sacristie.
