Château de Marmande
Description
Situated on the border between Touraine and Poitou, the château fortress of Marmande reveals the evolution of a feudal fortress from the year 1000 to the present day. Mysterious graffiti reveal fragments of a forgotten history.
In Marmande, it's the stones that tell the story. All you have to do is observe, find the marks of time and clues, and the history of the château is gradually pieced together. In the rooms, various graffiti, drawings and inscriptions help us to understand the life of this fortress. The first restoration campaign on this recently listed site has just been completed. Part of the parapet walk has been restored. From the top of the 30m-high watchtower, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside
