Port de By

The port is located in the estey de By, where the Grand chenal de By and Petit chenal de By join.
The remains of the old inclined slipway with a few mooring bollards can still be seen on the north bank of the Grand Chenal. Pegs and a few wooden pontoons are used to moor boats.
The water level is regulated by a floodgate, equipped upstream with two sliding shovels. The gate forms a bridge over the channel, which is crossed by Route Départementale No. 2.
At the end of the 20th century, the transport of goods, in particular wine shipped to the Charente, declined, leading to the abandonment and disappearance of the slipway, and the conversion of the quay into a picnic area.
