Location complements
To reach the hamlet of Passy, from the village centre, take the D29 road and turn left towards "Maison Neuve", then follow the road to Passy hamlet.
Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
From Passy, walk up the wide track that goes past a few chalets and up to the top of the Vagnys chairlift. Just beyond the chairlift, head left towards Commune. The path follows the edge of the woods and goes past the Verduize and Mouillettes chalets, before reaching the Commune mountain pasture where the view over the surrounding mountains is magnificent. Cross the pasture to reach Les Praz de Commune with its small gathering of chalets. Then, to reach the Croix de la Frête, take the little path behind the chalets. It's quite a steep climb up to the Croix de la Frête but when you get there, you'll be generously rewarded for your efforts by the exceptional view of the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval and the Pic de Tenneverge!
