La chapelle saint-florent - chapel

Located on the shores of Lake Longemer, the small chapel was built around 1449 by the Canonesses of Remiremont to honor the memory of Bilon, an officer under Gérard of Alsace who became a hermit and lived in 1056 at the site now known as “la butte Bilon.” After falling into ruin, it was rebuilt in 1727 and dedicated to Saint Florent by a bishop of Strasbourg.
Open to the public during Heritage Days or by request, the chapel is home to the hermit’s remains.
