La Vallée de Valmont

A charming little country village, Valmont boasts a rich historical and natural heritage: its church, castle, abbey and numerous watermills invite you to enjoy a moment of tranquillity...

The source of this small river can be seen at Le Vivier in Valmont. Adorned with century-old trees, this spot served as a natural fish reserve for the lord of the castle. Later, it was a place where famous people such as Maupassant, Georges Cuvier and Eugène Delacroix took a stroll. Numerous ponds dot the valley, where it's not uncommon to observe some very special wildlife (grey herons, great cormorants...). The Valmont River, with its 9 wheat and oil mills, flows all the way to Fécamp, where it empties into the sea.
