The association "Bolbec, au fil de la mémoire" (Remember Bolbec) tells the flourishing history of the textile industry in Bolbec and its area through its Textile Museum and Workshop. Do not wait any longer and come and meet these passionate volunteers who will bring back to life these old machines from the past.
On the premises of the former Desgenétais factory, a small group of passionate people, former textile workers, have recreated the whole production line. They will guide you and tell you all about the history and transformation of cotton, how the bale is turned into fibre, ribbon lap, sliver and then yarn. Part of this yarn is then wound onto a bobbin to make the weft and the other part is interlaced lengthwise to make warp yarns. The warp and the weft threads are then fed into the loom to create the woven fabric.
There is also an exhibition area dedicated to "indiennes", printed cotton cloth that contributed to the development and prosperity of Bolbec that will tell you their story and the evolution of printing techniques as well as display remarkable examples found in the town's archives.
To treat yourself or find a gift, come at the shop and see the handmade textile creations and brochures about the local history, all the pieces were made with love for the trade.
