If you'd like to immerse yourself in the special atmosphere of our rural villages. Would you like to discover an extraordinary collection relating to the history of firefighting in France and around the world? If so, don't hesitate to visit the Musée Rural et Musée du Feu de la Vieillardière in Leigné sur Usseau, which was first mentioned as a stronghold of the Fontmaure monastery in 1235.
The old farmhouse with its square courtyard, typical of the region, has been transformed for a second life.
Blacksmith's shop, wheelwright's shop, saddler's shop, cooper's shop, bakery, oil mill, dairy and creamery,
Clogmaker's workshop, and Pitsawyers, are all craft workshops reconstituted here as they existed just a few decades ago.
Dancing still takes place in the barn, which has been converted into an auditorium for various festive events.
