Built in the 12th century by Gaston IV le Croisé, this hospital complex served as a refuge for pilgrims on the Chemin de Compostelle between Lescar and Oloron-Sainte-Marie. Today, the church and hospital are classified as Historic Monuments.
In place of the original cloister, a park planted with trees and flowers is home to the former cemetery, which contains an important collection of discoidal funerary steles dating from the 17th century.
The 12th-century church of Saint-Blaise is a jewel of Romanesque art. Inside, in the choir, finely sculpted capitals depict biblical and mythological scenes, as well as scenes from daily life.
