This site is steeped in history. Its strategic location made it an essential part of the Atlantic Wall. The network of bunkers allowed the Occupation forces to defend the seafront in Veulettes-sur-Mer and its estuary as well as ensure highly advanced anti-aircraft defence. The trail is dotted with bunkers that are accessible from former partly recreated trenches, including three that have been converted into interpretative centres.
