With its large halls, café, roof terraces and workshops, the Condition Publique is a creative laboratory in the heart of the Pile district of Roubaix. La Condition Publique, an imposing 10,000 m2 building designed by Albert Bouvy, bears witness to the industrial boom in Roubaix, and is above all an architectural demonstration of the economic power of the textile industry. Located in the Pile district of Roubaix, the Condition Publique was created in 1902 to package textiles. 101 years later, it was renovated by architect Patrick Bouchain to become a cultural factory in 2004. Taking advantage of its exceptional architecture, the Condition Publique is reinventing the cultural and urban territory by becoming an integral part of a working-class neighbourhood.
