Description

Built from 1221 and completed around 1500, with its Romanesque plan and Gothic construction, the Cathédrale Saint Étienne is a symbol of Toul's rich past. Its flamboyant facade, the richest part of the building, contrasts with the austere radiant Gothic style of the rest.

The cloister was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. Measuring 54 m by 42 m, it is one of the largest in France. An interesting series of gargoyles completes the ensemble.

From mid-June until the European Heritage Days - from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. - a guide is on hand every day at the cathedral to welcome visitors and the curious. Possibility of climbing the south tower in summer. Cathedral store and Treasure Room open only during the summer season!
