Lonely in the middle of the fields, on the edge of a combe overlooking the Lembron valley, the church of Colamine is a typical example of Auvergne Romanesque art. Free guided tours (individuals or groups) on reservation.
The Colamine chapel had attracted a population of peasants to the area, attracted by land-clearing activities. Today, the church, built in the middle of clearing clearings, stands alone.
The single-nave edifice is topped by a square, slate-roofed bell tower.
When it was restored in 1979, 7 statues, including a Romanesque Virgin in Majesty, hidden behind the altarpiece of the main altar, were found. Listed as Historic Monuments, the polychrome wooden statues are now on display in the church.
Free to participate. Free participation for church upkeep.
