The old church, Romanesque like all the primitive ones in the area, was a little short but wide, with three naves and turned to the east.
The present building was built between 1863 and 1867, on the site of the old one, by the diocesan architects Hippolyte Durand and Hippolyte Guichenné and the contractor Dougier. Sculpture executed by the Bayonne sculptor Auguste Fraysse.
Unlike the old one, it is turned to the west.
