Chapelle des Brigittines

Description

La chapelle des Brigittines (1663). Seul bâtiment subsistant du couvent des Brigittines, la chapelle est l'œuvre de l'architecte Léon Van Heil. En 1784, l'édifice perd sa vocation religieuse suite à la suppression de l'ordre et la chapelle servira successivement d'entrepôt, de pharmacie, d'arsenal, de couvent, de marché couvert et même d'abattoir.

La chapelle est rachetée en 1920 par la Ville de Bruxelles et, après restauration, elle est dédiée aux arts du mouvement. Son double contemporain a été ajouté en 1999 sur un projet de l'architecte A. Bruno.
