Description

La statue de Manneken-Pis a été commandée en 1619 par la Ville de Bruxelles au sculpteur Jérôme Duquesnoy l'Ancien (1570-1641). Devenue avec le temps un emblème de la ville connu du monde entier, cette sculpture est rarement regardée du point de vue de l'histoire de l'art.

Il s'agirait à l'origine d'une fontaine publique destinée à approvisionner le quartier en eau.
