In Velaine, near Sambreville, stands a quadrangular menhir about three meters high. This stone is called the "Turning Rock" because, according to legend, it has the power to move. Indeed, it is said that a long time ago, a farmer was mowing his field near Velaine. Tired from the sun and his labor, he decided to rest in the shade of the menhir. Leaning back against the stone, he fell asleep. Shortly after, he awoke and, to his great surprise, the stone was no longer behind him, but in front of him! Frightened, he rushed to the village, shouting that the rock was spinning. However, there is another explanation: some say that the rock spins around every time the clock strikes midnight at the Fayat farm, located between Onoz and Saint-Martin.Not far from the menhir, at a height of 95 meters, you can admire a Neolithic polisher on which our ancestors sharpened their tools.Steph's lovely walk will take you to discover these exceptional sites!More information on the Sambreville website.
