More than just a visit, the Musée Archéologique de la Bataille de Gergovie offers a truly lively, interactive tour. The discovery area combines graphics, models, archaeological objects and multimedia devices, culminating in an immersive audiovisual room that plunges visitors into the heart of the famous battle between Romans and Gauls.
The tour also allows visitors to explore the civilization of the Arverne oppida, understand the archaeological advances made on the Gergovie site and grasp the natural and geological history of the plateau. Label "Vineyards and Discoveries"
"Côtes d'Auvergne, Destination volcans": the region has just been awarded the Vignobles et Découvertes label by Atout France (March 2022). It is the 12th region in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes out of 72 in France to receive the label. On the slopes of the dormant volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys - Limagne fault, a UNESCO World Heritage site, vines have been grown here for hundreds of years. Here, it takes root between basalt, granite and clay-limestone soils, giving life to wines with their characteristic multiple tonalities. It's this singularity that led to the choice of the name "Côtes d'Auvergne Destination volcans", conveying meaning, links and human values for a territory that defines itself as a land of welcome around volcanism.
