Fournier Marsh
Description
Home to many species of birds, Fournier Marsh (Marais Fournier) is a real haven of biodiversity, where walkers can take the time to enjoy nature in its purest form.
Surrounded by trees like an enchanted forest, Fournier Marsh is located between the hills and the lagoon, in the heart of the Domaine de Deva’s dry forest. It’s a real eco-sanctuary, where you can spot many different bird species like the whistling eagle and the iconic New Caledonian crow, renowned for being the most intelligent bird in the world. The Fournier Marsh Bird Observatory is equipped with binoculars, so visitors can see these remarkable birds close up. Visitors can also explore the area around the marsh by following walking trails like the Giants’ Trail (Sentier des Géants).
