Pitch your tent in a typical Great South setting at the edge of a black sand beach in magnificent Port-Boisé Bay!
In 2011, Natacha Atiti, a tourist guide born and bred in the Yaté region, opened up her private campsite to the travelling public. Spread along the black sand beach and shaded by coconut trees, the 10 pitches—5 of them sheltered—each have their own barbecue area. There’s a shared ablutions block and you can also hire a tent when you get there.
The nearby Sentier des Bagnards is a lovely walk with lots to see. Running alongside the sea, it bears witness to the area's logging past when the prison was still standing. The campsite offers guided walking tours along this trail and along Sentier de la Case. You can also hire kayaks for exploring the bay.
The strategic location of the Port-Boisé campsite makes it the ideal base for exploring some of the most beautiful spots in New Caledonia's Great South, like Cap N’Dua and the old hot springs.
And don’t forget to book “table d'hôte” dining at the campsite—a delicious meal will help you relax after your excursion!
