Classée en 2002 en tant qu'espace public. L'endroit est à l'origine un marais asséché au 11e siècle puis pavé probablement au siècle suivant. Le bombardement par les troupes françaises en 1695 a entraîné la reconstruction des maisons qui la bordent.
