The Chapel of the Trinity was erected in 1768 by Dominique Viry, a farmer following a vow.
A legend tells "that his 2 daughters felt mysterious caresses on their cheeks at night. Intrigued, he took their place and the invisible hand came to rest on his face. Prepared, he seized this hand and was immediately projected in the air. Not very reassured, he had the pious thought of recommending his soul to the Holy Trinity; immediately he was delivered. He vowed to build a chapel to the Holy Trinity, in the very place where he had touched the ground", we find written in the history of Gérardmer told by Louis Gehin.
