Description

The Laurentière forest grew in a natural basin crossed by the Save. The presence of deep soil and abundant water allowed the oak and ash trees to flourish. Such high, dense woodland is rare in Nord-Isère.
These special conditions allowed the development of a remarkable flora and fauna.More than 1,200 species were identified on the site!
During your walk, you will have the opportunity to see Agile frogs that use the ditches and pools to breed in the spring. The wet woodlands serve as their home for the rest of the year.

The presence of dead trees means the black woodpecker might be encouraged to peck here. The holes it creates in the wood are then used as breeding grounds for bats (several rare species use the area).

Conscious of the interest of the Laurentière forest, the Isère Department chose to own the site and integrate it into the Save Sensitive Natural Area.
Today, its management takes into account the environmental challenges, access to the public and the value of the woods is enhanced, working with those involved locally.

A signposted pedestrian loop is ideal for a walk, and you can discover the beautiful forest environments within the site. Please stay on the path to avoid disturbing wildlife. It's also easy to get lost if you stray.
The Forêt de la Laurentière is located in a wetland. Boots are sometimes necessary when it's rainy. Similarly, there can be lots of mosquitoes in the spring and summer.

Finally, access to the trail is prohibited in strong winds due to the high risk of falling branches.
