Departmental Domain of Montauger

Acquired in March 2002 by the Departmental Council of Essonne, the Domain of Montauger covers 15 hectares at the base of the Brie hillsides and hosts the House of the Environment.
At the border between the northern urban areas of the department and the rural south, it constitutes the "gateway" to the Marshes of the lower Essonne and Juine valleys. Located in the towns of Lisses and Villabé, this estate houses the Environment Departmental House which offers you, throughout the year, a wide range of activities (nature outings, exhibitions, workshops, naturalist courses, conferences, etc.) on different themes: biodiversity, eco-citizenship, sustainable and supportive development.

Workshops for school and extracurricular groups allow children to be made aware of biodiversity protection and sustainable development.

Both playful and scientific exhibitions are held in the castle's salons. For birdwatching enthusiasts, 2 observatories are available in the heart of the wetland.

You can now freely access the entire 15-hectare park, between meadows, orchards and marshes. In the shade of its large trees, this quiet and secret park will enchant you with its ecological and varied landscape heritage. The whole range of the department landscapes seems to have been gathered here: orchards, small lakes and marshes, hillsides, ponds and streams compose a rich natural mosaic to be explored along the walkways…
