The mountain and the natural energy of the streams allowed the development of hydroelectricity, making the strength of this valley and thus allowing its development.
The first hydroelectric installations date back to the end of the 19th century and continued until 1985 with the construction of the Grand Maison dam located behind the Sabot pass above Vaujany. The Verney lake, in the valley near Allemond, is the result of the water coming from the Grand Maison lake and passing through the EDF power station located at the bottom of the Vaujany rise. You will find the hydrélec museum and its fascinating exhibitions.
Free of charge.
