Saint Claude Chapel

The chapel used to stand lower down, towards the centre of Flumet, but was moved during the widening of the road necessary for the passage of machinery for the construction of the Grand Maison dam, in the 1980s.
Next to the chapel is the old school. Each hamlet had its own school. Young teachers who had graduated from the Ecole Normale often found themselves in the depths of the rural mountains to discover the profession and to learn the ropes!
