Place d'Armes - J.F. Blondel

Description

Built between 1761 and 1771, the Place d'Armes is a vast rectangular square 125 meters long and 50 meters wide, entirely paved. The buildings surrounding the square symbolize the various powers: to complement the cathedral, symbolizing religious power, architect Jacques François Blondel erected the Hôtel de Ville, representing municipal power, the Corps de Garde (now the Office de Tourisme), representing military power, and the Parlement, representing judicial power.
