Located since Antiquity in a populated area, Pomarède as it stands today was built in the 17th and 18th c. According to family records of the time, it was "a grand and beautiful Masters's house with large adjacent buildings dedicated to farming and land, the whole surrounded by trees". In 1681 Minister Lambert Daneau, and his brother-in-low Squire E. Dupré, bought Pomarède. Sold in 1793 as a property nationalised under the French Revolution, it was perchased in the 19th century by P. Dupré de Pomarède, who handed it down to his descendants, thus ensuring continuity within the family over 10 generations. It was listed under the Supplmental Inventory of Historical Monument in 1969.
