Particularly well placed for the ascent of the Palas, the Arriel or the Balaïtous, it is a stopover refuge for the crossing of the Pyrenees (HRP). The welcome given to you by the caretaker is at the height of the peaks surrounding the refuge. Coming by the picturesque little train of Artouste, the refuge is only 1 hour 30 minutes away, young and old alike will be able to take family walks around the various lakes, in a superb site that lends itself perfectly to the discovery of the high mountains.

Mountaineering, climbing and hiking in the summer. Ski mountaineering, snowshoeing and winter mountaineering in winter. Well placed for introductory courses, especially for young people.

Bat-sides in two collective dormitories. Blankets.
Nearest car parks
Three are possible from the Ossau valley: for seasoned mountaineers: the Caillou de Soques (1000 m of ascent in 3h30 without stops) via Passage d'Orteig and for families and hikers by the little train of Artouste. (Fabrèges gondola + train) from the upper station of Artouste (300 m 1h30 for adults, without stops) and also by Caillou de Soques via Col d'Arrious (1065 m ascent and 4 hours without stops).The other access for mountaineers is via Spain through the Tena valley after Sallent de Gallego and from the Sarra car park (1000 m in 4h00 without stops). In winter we pass through the Val d'Arrious. Beware of the risk of avalanches.
