On an initiative of the communes of La Roche, Houffalize, Bertogne, Gouvy, Tenneville and Sainte-Ode, the project for the creation of the Natural Park of the Two Ourthes was launched. Since June 2000, the six communes have become one inter-communal association. For a fifteen-year period, this will take the form of a non-profit making organization responsible for the creation of the park and the implementation of a series of specific actions. In order to take advantage of financial aid from the Walloon government, the inter-communal association must follow four axes in the execution of its project: protection of the environment, conservation of nature, land management, and rural and economic development. Indeed, the main objectives of the future park are to work towards the region?s promotion, its economical and social progress and the conservation of its environmental quality.
