This forge is one of the most important forges of the Bandiat iron basin in the 18th century. It was a place of production of cast iron and steel. It was part of a vast group of forges that produced naval cannons for the Rochefort arsenal. Recent archaeological surveys have brought to light the casting pit of the cannons of the blast furnace. This discovery, which is apparently unique in France, allows us to understand how
how the cannons were cast in this royal forge.
