Adjacent to Saint-Pierre church, the Palais Abbatial is located at the heart of the canonical quarter of the noble ladies of Remiremont. Rebuilt between 1752 and 1756 at the instigation of Abbess Anne-Charlotte de Lorraine and designed by architect Jean Nicolas Jeannesson, it reflects the classical style of the Dukes of Lorraine.
The Palace has three distinctive facades: a fan-shaped one overlooking the Jardin des Olives, another on Place de l'Abbaye in a unique style evoking Napoleon's campaigns, and a third on Place Mesdames, revealing a paved courtyard and a former ice house.
Burnt down in 1871 by the Prussians, it has since been restored.
Worth noting: The guided tour offered by the Tourist Office allows you to admire the most remarkable rooms.
