Hautes vallées de l'Ay et de la Cance

Forested areas interspersed with deep valleys carved out by the river Ay, this area has managed to preserve a touch of mystery and offers some stunning views. The old beech forests, chirats and streams are home to some remarkable flora and fauna.
The Hautes Vallées de la Cance et de l'Ay are classified as a Sensitive Natural Area.
You can enjoy it in a thousand and one ways, by bike along the small roads of the Ardèche, on foot or on horseback along the signposted trails from the surrounding heights or aboard a hot-air balloon.

According to the Ay legend, a shepherdess fell into the water. As she fell, she shouted "Aie! Notre-Dame! Aie!". An invisible hand stopped her fall and she was saved. Hence the name given to the river and the site.

Accessible during the fishing season with its No Kill courses, the two natural rivers are remarkable and will allow you to enjoy nature to the full.
