There is no record of when the first church was built in Champigneulles. As for the present building, the first bay of the choir dates from 1618 and the nave from 1774. In 1686, the community paid a master carpenter and roofer to straighten and restore the bell tower cross, which was leaning and threatening to fall. In 1712, work was carried out on the tower, portal, choir and nave. However, the church was proving too small, and in 1772 it was decided to enlarge it, while retaining the vaulted choir.
