Description
Ce géant des pelouses subalpines a le port et la taille de l’artichaut avec en plus une grosse tête globuleuse d'un rose soutenu bordée d'écailles nacrées. Ses énormes feuilles entières, blanches et veloutées dessous en imposent et permettent de l'identifier à coup sur. Manne nutritive pour de nombreux coléoptères, son capitule n'en est pas moins une aubaine pour les papillons. Cette espèce peu commune est sujette à une protection nationale même hors du Parc.
