Le Désert-en-Valjouffrey
Description
Point de sable ni de terres désolées, le nom du Désert vient du mot "essarter" qui signifie déforester, dans le but d'ouvrir une clairière. L’essartage était nécessaire à l’implantation des villages et au développement de l’agriculture de montagne. De nos jours, le Désert est un des seuls hameaux d'altitude habité toute l’année malgré la rudesse du climat montagnard.
