Le massif forestier de Châteauvert
Description
La forêt de Châteauvert est un vaste massif composé majoritairement de feuillus et plus particulièrement de hêtres. Culminant à plus de 900 mètres, cette forêt possède donc l'une des hêtraies les plus élevées de la région. Elle est définie comme une forêt ancienne, ayant été continuellement boisée depuis au moins 150 ans : les naturalistes considèrent donc que son écosystème correspond à un optimum proche de milieux où l’Homme ne serait jamais intervenu.
