Description

Braine-le-Comte is one of the most beautiful forest areas in the province of Hainaut. It actually covers more than 600 hectares and its presence is due to a high mound of Lutetia sand (peak elevation at 160 meters), which forms the border between the valley of the Brainette and the Sennette. You need to walk through this huge wood to explore all its aspects : the village of Henripont with its St. Nicholas Church and the Notre-Dame de Grâce Chapel (1702) that overlooks the vast landscape of the Valley of the Sennette, the Valley of the Servoir and the Pied'eau site. In the west, in the village of Hennuyères, you can still find traces of a large industrial tile-brick factory ("Le Progres") which doesn’t erase the charm of the interesting St. Gertrude Church (XVIth century). By the way, don’t forget to visit the “Tête du Bois” site.
