The existence of a chapel in the centre of the village is mentioned around 1775. At that time, no mass was celebrated there, but the rosary was regularly prayed. This oratory was dedicated to Saint Joseph. It was probably not the first sanctuary in the village. As the Carthusian monks had been in charge of the land in the village since the 15th century, they were forced to provide religious services for their peasants and to build an oratory there.
