The Soye Pond, located in the commune of Floreffe, near the Sambre River, consists of a 2.5-hectare body of water fed by the Vivier stream. It is distinguished by its rich ornithological interest, home to grebes, reed warblers, and various migratory species, as well as a remarkable biodiversity of odonates such as the tawny dragonfly. Although privately owned and not included in Natura 2000, it constitutes an important refuge for several species of community interest. The Viviers stream, which rises not far from here, once fed three ponds. The deepest was formerly called the Étang du dessous. It is the only one that remains today.Around 1925, a small wooden structure was erected on concrete stilts in the middle of the pond. The GR126, which runs along the Soye pond, is part of a long-distance hiking trail that begins at the foot of the Atomium and ends its 236 km route on the banks of the Semois at Membre.Envoyer des commentairesPanneaux latérauxHistoriqueEnregistrées
