Grotte de la Chambre d'Amour

The cave of the Chambre d'Amour gave its name to a whole neighborhood facing the ocean between the beaches of Anglet and the lighthouse of Biarritz.
In the distant past, Laorens, a poor orphan, and Saubade, the daughter of a rich farmer, loved each other. Despite their father's opposition, they met in a cave, facing the immensity of the waves. There, they swore to love each other until death. One day, a storm broke out in the Bay of Biscay, and the sea rose faster than usual, carrying the lovers away. This cave was called "Chambre d'Amour" and still attracts lovers and the curious today.
