Au XVIII° siècle , il fut la demeure du procureur et servit d’hôtel de ville et de caserne pour la maréchaussée. Puis au XX° siècle , devint la propriété du cinéaste Henri-Georges CLOUZOT , qui tourna en partie dans la ville « le Corbeau 1943 » et « Les Diaboliques 1955 »
