Description
Dans le tableau « Les canotiers à Chatou », réalisé en 1879, les personnages ont été identifiés : le rameur, frère de l’artiste, s’adresse au couple élégamment habillé, à savoir le peintre Gustave Caillebotte, ami de Renoir, et Aline Charigot, jeune modèle que Renoir épousera en 1890. Une péniche remonte lentement le fleuve. Ce tableau est conservé au National Gallery of Art à Washington.
