Reflecting the pre-war period, the “Signes des temps” exhibition tells
the story of the general social unrest that was so clearly illustrated
in the arts.
Visions of fear, menace and the apocalypse rub shoulders with projects
showing utopias and idylls.
The exhibition is structured around a number of themes that will analyse
the boundaries and bridges between naturalism, symbolism and
expressionism to convey the way the visual arts expressed a time marked
by economic, social and political instability.
The pieces exhibited include paintings, sculptures and graphic or
photographic works of art by German, French, Swiss, American and Belgian
artists from international public and private collections.
